Interview with Stefani Pollack, Founder of Food Interviews

StumbleUpon Stumble This Post

Stefani Pollack is the founder of Food Interviews. Every post on Food Interviews is going to be an interview or a link to an interview. This is the About page. It's an interview of myself conducted by myself. Egotistical? Maybe. Informative? Definitely.

Why did you decide to start Food Interviews?

On my other blog, Cupcake Project, I've done interviews with companies whose products I use. It's been a win/win situation. My readers and I get the inside scoop on the companies that we are interested in and the company gets a chance to promote themselves.

I've had such a blast conducting interviews that I wanted a forum specifically for them. I plan to use this blog to interview not only food companies, but food bloggers, chefs, and growers too. I'll also talk to food historians, people in the food service industry - really anyone who has something to say about food!

Will you be doing all the interviews yourself?

At first, I will. However, if you know someone that would be great to interview and you would like to do a guest interview in this space, I'd love to hear from you. It would be great to have interviewers from all over the world. While I plan to do phone and email interviews with people regardless of location, I'm based in St. Louis, Missouri and have lots of direct connections with people in the Midwest.

How will you find people to interview?

I'm always open to suggestions. I've got a comment board on the left side of my blog that I hope people will use to suggest interview subjects. You can also always email me at stef at foodinterviews dot com.

Who do you expect to read Food Interviews?

Anyone who likes to eat! One thing that I plan on doing is asking interviewees to be available to respond to reader comments. I'd like to create a dialog where readers will have a unique opportunity to correspond with experts on a wide range of food topics.

Why are you so interested in food?

I think a lot of us fall into ruts with our eating. I try to avoid this by seeking out new flavors and mixing together familiar favorites to make new creations. I think it's fascinating to find out as much as possible about what I put into my body and to discover new foods that I've never heard of.

What do you do when you are not writing about food?

I do contract instructional design work. In simple terms, that means I write training materials for corporations. Other than that, I love to dance, sing, and be merry! One of my favorite things to do is go on photoshoots with my husband, Jonathan. He does event and family photography, but he also works for a food magazine so we get to meet lots of chefs and see and taste some fine food and beverages.
